Evidence-Based Education Funding

Senate Bill 1 passed the Illinois General Assembly by a partisan vote. Since then, Democrat leaders have held the bill in the Senate instead of sending it to the Governor. In it's current form, the legislation diverts hundreds of millions of dollars from 851 Illinois schools and sends it to Chicago. Senator Weaver urges Senate leaders to send the bill to the Governor so he can use his amendatory veto power to turn the legislation into a fairer plan for all Illinois schools. Under this plan, all schools would receive significant help from the state with no school losing any funding.
