Members of the Livingston, McLean, and Woodford County Farm Bureaus presented State Senator Jason Barickman (R-Bloomington) with the Illinois Farm Bureau “Friend of Agriculture” award.
“Agriculture is the backbone of the Illinois economy,” said Senator Barickman. “It is a tremendous honor to be recognized for my support of the industry.”
The “Friend of Agriculture” is awarded to lawmakers in recognition of their commitment to supporting Illinois family farms and the agriculture industry.
“Senator Barickman was raised on a farm, so he understands the importance of agriculture within this state,” said Kevin Semlow, Illinois Farm Bureau State Legislative Affairs Director. “He knows the challenges we face within our rural communities, he recognizes the changes that need to be made, and he makes sure that the people of the 53rd Senate District are well represented at the capitol.”
“State government plays an important role in the daily lives of farmers just like my family,” said Senator Barickman. “We have to insure that our farmers have the tools and support they need, while making sure we block any attempts to over-regulate their operations.”
